What do you need?
Private sessions are a valuable way for us to dive deep into the way your body moves…and the ways it doesn’t like to move so much. As you build a relationship with your trainer and they get to know more about your movement patterns, they can discover the very best exercises to help improve your body's functioning, challenge you and get real results for you.

FLEXIBILITY
If you feel tightness in your muscles
Pilates combines both strengthening and stretching the muscles to rebalance the body. We can work on elongating the tight muscles to improve your flexibility, relaxing the tense muscles that are causing you discomfort and strengthening the weaker muscles which are putting strain on other parts of your body.

CORE STRENGTH
If you have back ache
or poor posture, these can be signs of a weaker core. More dominant muscles might be taking over leaving your core weak or affecting your posture, slouching when sitting for long periods of time. All Pilates exercises start from the centre, strengthening the core muscles in the abdominals, lower back, hips and buttocks.

MOBILITY
If you feel stiff in your joints
Pilates focusses on slow & controlled movements which mobilise joints all around your body from the larger ones such as the shoulders and hips, to the intricate joints in your spine which allow you to reach, bend and turn. The exercises are low impact- putting the least stress on your joints compared to other forms of exercise. By mobilising the joints we are lubricating them like oiling a bicycle chain or hinge to be able to move more freely, lessening the risk of injury.
POSTURE
If you are 'slouching' or have 'rounded shoulders'
Pilates improves posture as all exercises are done in 'neutral alignment' meaning we make sure all the body parts and joints and aligned correctly before doing the exercise. Your instructor will help you find these positions yourself and work on correcting poor posture by reversing the position, opening up the chest, drawing the shoulders back and elongating the spine. Core strength plays a huge part in posture, which is at the heart of all pilates moves.

RECOVERY
If you're recovering from an injury or illness
or struggling with a persistent niggle, Pilates is highly effective for muscular and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. This is particularly important when it comes to activating the deep stabilisers after an injury. 1:1 at LYC allows you to work towards your personal goals at your own pace in a relaxed, non-clinical setting.

BODY CONFIDENCE
If you are feeling unfit
or have fallen out of love with your body, pilates is a low-impact body-conditioning form of exercise which improves its function, tones muscles and builds a mind-body connection. At LYC we work at your own pace, aim to build your confidence through gradual exercises and fall back in love with your body and its abilities!
At LYC we provide a postural analysis for new clients which gives us an idea what might be going on in your body that we need to correct. We chat through your concerns, your goals and ability before providing a taster session tailored to you.
